The Photograph

Arms spread up and out as high as they can go, legs out ready for a jumping jack. She looks over at him, his smile, spreading across his face, laughing at her or with her she never knows.

His arms raise and poise to hold the camera steady and strong. Ready enough to take the photo she thought.

'Hurry up' swirls around her tongue and over her lips, as she giggles.

Looking from her feet she raises her eyes to meet his, just in time to see an expression of genius wash over his face.

His eyes crinkle with a smile as he says 'I know how to make this work, if I turn the camera upside down, the photo will be upside down'.

She giggles, she knows. She watches, she waits.

Fumbling, his hands turn the camera upside down, he watches the screen, as it turns degree by degree ready and waiting for his genius to be validated.

The final turn and his face drops, his eyes raise to meet her face, smiling back at him.

'Oh' slips from his mouth before he shakes his head at his own foolishness 'It didn't work'. His shoulders heave up, before they crash down and a smile parts his lips.

They both giggle, she strikes a pose through her laughter, and he takes the photo.
